Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Tresterr, from getting started to mastering the SAT.

Getting Started

What is Tresterr?
Tresterr is your personal SAT coach — a comprehensive test prep platform designed specifically for teens. We combine gamified daily practice with realistic exam simulations, giving you the motivation to study consistently while preparing you for exactly what you'll face on test day. Our Command Center tracks your streaks, XP, and skill mastery, while our Simulator mirrors the official Bluebook testing experience.
How is Tresterr different from other SAT prep?
Most SAT prep feels like homework — and that's why students don't stick with it. Tresterr is built like a game: you maintain daily streaks, earn XP for completing problems, and level up your mastery in each skill area. But we don't sacrifice realism — our full test simulator follows the exact Bluebook format with proper timing, adaptive modules, and a built-in Desmos calculator for math sections. It's addictive practice with serious results.
Do I need an account to use Tresterr?
Yes, an account is required. This allows us to save your practice attempts, track your progress over time, compute analytics and trends, maintain your streak and XP across sessions, and keep your subscription consistent across all your devices. Creating an account takes less than a minute.
What devices can I use Tresterr on?
Tresterr works on any device with a modern web browser — laptops, desktops, tablets, and phones. Your progress syncs automatically across all devices. For the best experience during full test simulations, we recommend using a laptop or desktop to match actual test day conditions.

Practice Modes

What is Open Practice?
Open Practice is our flexible, self-directed mode. You choose what to work on — select specific domains (Math or Reading & Writing), topics, or difficulty levels. Questions are pulled based on your preferences, and you can practice at your own pace without time pressure. Great for targeted review or casual daily practice.
How does Adaptive Practice work?
Adaptive Practice uses your performance history to intelligently select questions. The system identifies your weak areas — topics where you've struggled or haven't practiced recently — and prioritizes those in your question mix. As you improve in an area, it automatically shifts focus to other skills that need work. This ensures you're always practicing where you can improve fastest, not wasting time on topics you've already mastered.
What is the Full Test Simulator?
Our Full Test Simulator replicates the actual digital SAT experience as closely as possible. It follows the official Bluebook format: two Reading & Writing modules followed by two Math modules, with proper time limits for each section. The Math sections include an integrated Desmos graphing calculator, just like the real test. Module 2 difficulty adapts based on your Module 1 performance, mimicking the actual adaptive testing. This is the best way to build test-day stamina and familiarity.
What are Skill Drills?
Skill Drills let you focus intensively on a single topic or question type. If you're struggling with quadratic equations, inference questions, or any specific skill, you can drill just that area until it clicks. Each drill gives you a focused set of questions with immediate feedback and explanations.
What is Quick Practice?
Quick Practice is a 10-question session designed for when you only have a few minutes. It pulls a balanced mix of questions across domains and gives you rapid-fire practice. Perfect for a study break, commute, or keeping your streak alive on a busy day.

The SAT & Question Content

What SAT format does Tresterr cover?
Tresterr is built for the digital SAT (launched in 2024). This includes the new shorter format with adaptive modules, the integrated Desmos calculator, and the updated question types. Our questions cover both main sections: Reading & Writing and Math.
Where do the questions come from?
Our question bank includes a mix of officially released College Board practice questions and high-quality questions developed to match SAT style, difficulty, and content specifications. Every question is tagged by domain, skill, and difficulty level for precise analytics and adaptive learning.
Are the questions realistic?
Yes. We put significant effort into ensuring our questions match the style, difficulty distribution, and content of the actual SAT. Our full test simulator follows the exact Bluebook format and timing. Students consistently report that practice on Tresterr translates directly to test-day performance.
Do you have explanations for every question?
Yes, every question has an explanation that walks through the correct answer and common mistakes. Premium users get access to more detailed explanations with step-by-step reasoning, relevant formulas or rules, and tips for similar questions.

Progress & Analytics

How does the Command Center work?
The Command Center is your personalized dashboard showing everything about your SAT prep journey. It displays your current streak, total XP, and level. You can see your mastery progress across all skill areas, performance trends over time, and a projected score range based on your practice. It's designed to keep you motivated and give you clear visibility into where you stand.
What are streaks and XP?
Streaks track consecutive days of practice — even a few questions keeps your streak alive. XP (experience points) are earned for every question you answer, with bonus XP for correct answers and harder questions. As you accumulate XP, you level up. These gamification elements are designed to build consistent study habits — the key to SAT improvement.
How is my projected score calculated?
Your projected score is based on your recent practice performance, accounting for question difficulty and your accuracy trends. It's an estimate, not a guarantee — but students who consistently practice on Tresterr typically see their projected score converge toward their actual test results. The projection updates as you practice more, giving you an increasingly accurate picture.
What data do you track?
We store your practice attempts including your answers, whether they were correct, and how long you spent. This data powers your analytics, adaptive practice, and progress tracking. We do not sell your data or share it with third parties. For complete details, see our Privacy Policy.
